Klassical Dream, winner of the 2019 Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham, will line up in the Grade 1 Matheson Hurdle on the fourth day of the Leopardstown Christmas racing festival. Klassical Dream was defeated by his stablemate Saldier in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown last month but his jockey Paul Townend is far from downbeat.

“I think it will bring him on hugely but you’d have to be disappointed at the same time,” reasoned Townend.

The champion jockey elaborated: “We were disappointed leaving there but I’d suppose when we were to get beat it was nice it was another one of our horses that won the race.

“I wouldn’t write him off yet — there is a lot of improvement to come from that run.

“He probably has been overshadowed a bit because he got beat and I think he’s a lot better than that.

“It was his first run in open company. In saying that the winner hadn’t a whole lot of experience either.

“It was disappointing to get beat on the day but going forward I think he’s a lot of improvement there.”
