< Potters Point had too many guns for his five rivals when comfortably landing the feature race at Tramore, the EY Chase, for trainer Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell.

The 6-4 market leader jumped well throughout as he sat behind leader Marinero in the early exchanges before taking over travelling powerfully with four fences to jump.

Despite facing a stern challenge from Bentelimar before the second-last, Potters Point always had matters under control and he put the race to bed with a slick jump at the last before pulling eight lengths clear on the run-in.

Elliott was to taste further success later on the card as Canny Tom (6-1) claimed a much-deserved first career triumph in the Olde Forge Maiden Hurdle.

The seven-year-old came into this with a string of runner-up finishes to his name and he only mastered outsider Chateauneuf Du Pap late on, a better jump at the final flight helping him secure a three quarters of a length success.

There was a noteworthy performance in the Hiberian Hotel Mares Maiden Hurdle as Contingency (8-13 fav) made a successful start to her hurdling career for Willie Mullins.

The four-year-old displayed a fair level of ability on the Flat for Jane Chapple-Hyam in England but jumping looks her game judging by this assured three and three quarter length defeat of Osco Mosco < Touch Of Gold (5-1) took advantage of a crashing fall from Balinaboola Lass when taking first prize in the Flynn Hotel Group Mares Handicap Hurdle.

The pair were locked together approaching the final hurdle but Touch Of Gold put in the better leap and went on to score by two and three quarter lengths.< Tomcoole Lad (12-1) only had a neck to spare when taking first prize in the Tom Murphy Car Sales (Mercedes-Benz) Handicap Chase while the www.seednecessities.com Handicap Hurdle went the way of Ardera Cross (6-1).
