Treble for Willie Mullins at Listowel A treble scorer on the opening day of the Festival on Sunday, Willie Mullins brought his Wednesday tally at Listowel to three winners with La Note Verte in the Ballygarry Estate Mares Novice Chase. A second winner on the day for Paul Townend, who also rode two winners on Sunday, the Simon Munir and Isaac Souede-owned even-money favourite was in a league of her own as she led at the second-last fence and coasted to a six-length success over the Hugh Finegan-trained 8/1 chance Lady Bluebird. There were two and a half lengths back to John McConnell’s Walks The Talk, the front-running 10/1 shot, who came home in third place. La Note Verte won her bumper and her maiden hurdle at the June meetings at Listowel in 2024 and 2025 respectively. This was her fifth win in all. Paul Townend commented, “She’s done it nicely and has progressed with each run over fences. She’s very likeable. “She’s calmed down from what she was, she’s genuine and jumps great. She’s obviously versatile trip-wise as well. “She was dropping back in trip and for them to go so hard, it probably turned it into a staying race.” Additional reporting from Gary Carson
