True Love ensures Aidan O’Brien gets in on Group One act Aidan O’Brien had to wait until the final Group One of Arc weekend to strike but his old faithful True Love came up trumps in the Qatar Prix de la Foret. Tough as teak as a juvenile when she had seven runs highlighted with a win in the Cheveley Park, she emerged this spring better than ever, winning the 1000 Guineas. Placed in three further Group Ones after that, she had appeared on the downgrade having been out of the places in her last two races, but back down at seven furlongs she showed her tenacity to see off Christopher Head’s Nighttime in a photo finish. O’Brien’s Puerto Rico ran his best race of the season back in third. “She’s had a long season and when they’re like that they need a lot of care and attention. I’m delighted for everyone and Ryan gave her a great ride,” said the Ballydoyle trainer. “She’s a Queen Mary winner, she’s a Cheveley Park winner and she’s a Guineas winner, what can you say? Coming back to seven furlongs is probably her perfect trip, but she gets a mile on an easy track and still won an English Guineas. “She’s an incredible filly really and she could go to the Breeders’ Cup Mile. Ryan said she likes the feel of an aggressive race now because she’s gone a little bit laid-back and going round a bend at Keeneland should suit her.”
