Tswalu flies in to gain elusive win under Pietropaolo A rather frustrating filly to date, the Joseph O'Brien trained Tswalu registered a first career success at the ninth time of asking when staying on late to land the Bellewstown Inn Fillies Maiden. Sent off favourite on seven of her eight previous starts, the daughter of Justify reached the frame on all but one occasion. With punters once again giving her the benefit of the doubt here, those that made her 15/8f would have been cursing themselves as she laboured in third place over a furlong out. However, apprentice Julian Pietropaolo never gave up on the market leader, coaxing her into second over 50 yards out, before heading leader Thru And Thru close home to win by a head. It was a seventh win of the year for the young Cork man who has really hit form in recent months. He reported: "It is just great to get her off the mark today, she is after plenty of seconds and thirds in her starts. "There was plenty of pace on. The plan was to make it, but I didn't have enough horse under me so I just sat her in. "To be fair, she galloped to the line. "She did (go for it in the closing stages), to be fair, she was game at the line when I needed her." Additional reporting by Michael Graham.
