John Gosden is set to doubly enter Irish Champion Stakes winner The Fugue at the Breeders' Cup on November 2 with the Clarehaven trainer indicating the Turf race is likely to be her first preference.

The Fugue experienced an unlucky passage in last season's Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita but most experts expected her to have another crack at that distaffers' prize

While he will assess the prospects for his Yorkshire Oaks and Irish Champion Stakes winner in both races, Gosden dropped a big hint that Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber's filly would take on her male counterparts in the longer event.

After greeting Listed-race winner Caucus at Newmarket, Gosden said: "I will put The Fugue in both the Turf and Filly & Mare Turf, but I'm leaning towards the Turf for her.

"She has come out of her Leopardstown race well and the Breeders' Cup will probably be her next race

"With the weather as it is she has to be a little iffy for the Arc at this stage."

The developments revive memories of Ouija Board, who at the 2004 Lone Star Park Breeders' Cup had a similar entry but in the end took up her second preference of the Filly & Mare which she won under Kieren Fallon.
