Tuscan Evening dies Multiple American winner Tuscan Evening, disqualified from second place in the 2008 Irish 1,000 Guineas when trained by John Murphy, has died following a workout at Del Mar last Sunday. The daughter of Oasis Dream failed to win in Ireland and was demoted to fourth, from second, for interference in the ’08 Irish Classic but was a big hit subsequently in America, winning 12 of 16 races when trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. Tuscan Evening was set to start favourite for next Saturday’s Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes, having landed a Grade 1 win earlier this summer. Test to confirm the cause of death were being conducted this week at a California laboratory.
