Twiston-Davies Hoping For Imperial Rule

Imperial Commander's impressive chasing debut has left handler Nigel Twiston-Davies looking forward to a bright future with the imposing six-year-old.

Having been Grade One-placed over timber, the gelding jumped well in the main and powered up the Cheltenham hill to repel Over The Creek by 16 lengths last weekend.

Twiston-Davies is keen not to get too carried away but is already eyeing a return trip to Prestbury Park for another race next month.

Referring to his recent triumph, Twiston-Davies said: 'Imperial Commander still has a bit to prove over fences, but he did it very well.

'He didn't have to beat very much and was good over hurdles. He only made one mistake, although that is nothing to worry about.

'We will enter him over two and a half miles and three miles at The Open meeting. Time will tell what his best trip is.

'I hope he continues to progress. He could be a Gold Cup horse ? you always dream!'
