Un De Sceaux wins at Auteuil Willie Mullins' crack hurdler Un De Sceaux kept his unbeaten record with an all-the-way victory in the Prix Hypothese at Auteuil. The winner of two bumpers in France before joining the Mullins yard, Un De Sceaux has won all five of his starts in Ireland, most recently taking the Red Mills Trial Hurdle at Gowran Park in impressive style. Barry Geraghty sent him straight to the front in the Grade Three contest and at one stage he held a 15-length advantage, but French Champion Hurdle hero Gemix threw down a late challenge and was making rapid ground towards the finish, coming up narrowly short. Un De Sceaux got the verdict by a short neck, much to the delight of connections. Mullins' son Patrick said: "We were going over there and taking on the French champion hurdler in his own back yard. "I imagine we'll probably bring him back in trip, but he showed a bit of battle to hold on. His best form may well be at two miles, but we took a chance and it paid off. He jumped fantastic as well. "He's in at Punchestown. We'll see how he comes out of this. He has had a hard enough race. Today was the plan and he's won. It's great prize-money over there and the owner has had a great day out in Paris. The horse has maintained his unbeaten record, so it's success all round."
