Uncle Goalie scores by a nose Rory Devine's Uncle Goalie (11/4) just held on from fast-finishing My Shayla at the end of a mile in the Leopardstown Golf, Padel and Range Maiden. Uncle Goalie kicked for home in the final quarter of a mile and asserted over a furlong from home for Gavin Ryan. At this stage, My Shayle had plenty to find in a pursuing second, but she really found her stride in the final 150 yards. She came home menacingly as Uncle Goalie was crying out for the line close home and a photograph was called. Uncle Goalie got the verdict by a nose over the well supported 9/2 runner-up. The front two were three and a quarter lengths clear of the 5/2 favourite Goddess Of War. Ryan said: "He is a lovely horse - still a little bit raw and green. "He's latched on for the first couple of furlongs. After that he's got into a nice rhythm. He probably got lonely in the straight. "He seems to handle any type of ground and I think he's a horse that's going to improve plenty for it." Additional reporting by John O'Riordan
