Victram Bids for Repeat Lincoln Win at the Curragh on Sunday

No horse has won the Ladbrokes.ie Irish Lincolnshire Handicap in consecutive years since well before the 1950's but Victram will bid to defy that statistic at the Curragh on Sunday.

Winner of the race twelve months ago, Victram is 12lbs higher in the ratings now but showed that he is in excellent form when landing the valuable Sunderlands Imperial Cup Handicap Hurdle at Sandown two weeks ago and will be one of the leading fancies is what is always a fiercely competitive event. The race has also attracted the 2004 winner, Tolpuddle, trained by Tommy Stack, while other contenders are likely to be the Dermot Weld pair Bobs Pride and Bawaader, the Harry Rogers trained Our Jaffa and John Quinn's Bricks And Porter in a big field of 26 and a really open race is in prospect.

Earlier on the card, Aidan O'Brien's Chenchikova, a full sister to the 2002 English and Irish Derby winner, High Chaparral, is one of the leading fancies for the Epsom Oaks later in the season and she is set to make her seasonal debut in the ?100,000 Park Express European Breeders Fund Stakes over a mile. Winner of her only race at Tipperary last season, Chenchikova may not be totally suited by the likely testing conditions and faces some decent rivals in the shape of Jim Bolger's Sandie and Dermot Weld's Utterly Heaven.

The opening two year old maiden has attracted an unusually large field of 16 and while there is no Aidan O'Brien representative, most of the larger stables have a runner. National Hunt enthusiasts are also catered for on the card with a competitive field for the ?30,000 Rockview INH Flat Race in which recent Cheltenham winner, Nicanor, finished second last year.
