Viztoria De Throned in France Leading ante-post Qipco 1000 Guineas fancy Viztoria had to settle for second at Maisons-Laffitte in France on Tuesday. Edward Lynam had been anticipating a big run from the unbeaten juvenile who was stepping up to Group Two company for the Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte following a seven and a half length Listed success at the Curragh in September. However, the daughter of Oratorio had no answer to the late burst of Penny's Picnic in the six furlong contest, finishing a length adrift at the line under Johnny Murtagh. The winner was ridden by the up and coming jockey Antoine Hamelin and was winning for the fifth time in seven starts with his two defeats coming in races won by Clive Cox's smart colt Reckless Abandon. George Bakers's Boomshackerlacker was a further length and a quarter back in third, a head in front of David Wachman's Three Sea Captains.
