The well-named Walkingmayotomilan (17/2) was a popular winner of the Bay Leaf Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe.

The five-year-old daughter of Walk In The Park , ridden by Shane Markey, had struggled on both of her previous starts under Rules but showed significant improvement as she eased into contention and led inside the final half-furlong to win by a length and a half.

Winning trainer Ross O'Sullivan said "She had some good runs in point-to-points.

"She likes good ground and was disappointing on soft ground during the winter, but ran well after a break in Galway.

"This race looked ideal, but it was still competitive. She missed the last, but toughed it out well.

"She just gave a little gurgle in Galway, so the tongue-tie helped.

"Between the mares' allowance and Shane's claim, she was getting 14lb from some of them.

"I'm delighted for Shane, he works hard and that's his fourth winner.

"She's a fine big mare and will jump a fence.

"She's owned by a proud Mayo man, Damien Conway, and he was on the phone straight after the race. He has a couple of horses with us and loves his racing."
