Walsh outlines whip appeal case Ruby Walsh has outlined the reasons behind his appeal against the whip ban he picked up at Aintree last Saturday. The multiple Irish Champion Jockey was given a five-day suspension for using his whip with excessive frequency when winning on Edgardo Sol and has said he will ride in Britain less as a result of the new rules. He will represented by Rory Mac Neice at a hearing at BHA headquarters in London next Thursday. "I was talking to Kevin Darley (Professional Jockeys Association chief executive) and Rory Mac Neice, and they said we should appeal, so we'll see how we get on," said Walsh. "I don't think I rode against what they (BHA) are trying to achieve. An appeal is an appeal, and we're hopeful. "The one I'm contesting is the slap down the shoulder going to the last fence. I don't think it should have been counted and we're going to try and show why. "I've had a lot (of support) from the public. I've had a lot of emails and texts and I haven't had anybody say I was wrong. "Rules are rules but I don't think this rule is right. The next time I break the rules I'm going to get 10 days. There are big races to be missing for taking chances in ordinary races."
