Walsh successful back in green and gold Jalila Moriviere justifies favouritism in the Listed Canella Lane Handicap Chase, giving Mark Walsh a first success in the JP McManus silks since departing the role as retained rider at Killarney. The 9/4 shot jumped off towards the rear, but she quickly made headway into a prominent position, going out on the final circuit. Although making a mess of four out, Willie Mullins’ mare stayed on well under pressure up the straight. She hit the front inside the final 50 yards under a well-timed Walsh ride, beating She’s A Fine Wine (6/1) by three quarters of a length. West Away (7/1) was a further three and a half lengths back in third. Mark Walsh reported how, “She jumped brilliantly bar the fourth-last and the sharp easy track suited her well. She didn't get home over 2m6f in the Galway Blazers and this course was a help today. "I winged the third-last and didn't want to get there too soon, and was always confident I'd catch the leader. She picked up, went away well and is a grand little mare for those races." Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes.
