The Ger Lyons-trained Watch Tower (4/1) was a cosy winner of the Boylesports Pick Your Place Handicap to give Ger Lyons and Colin Keane a quick double this evening. Having run well in defeat on plenty of occasions, it was finally the son of Starspangledbanner's day as he was able to quicken off the turn and pull away from his rivals. The Gavin Cromwell-trained Invincible Will stayed on late, but Watch Tower was not for catching.

After the race, trainer Ger Lyons said: "He's been promising to do that. Everything was wrong. We turned up in Limerick the other day and, the ground was gone. He pulled shoes and whatever; it wasn't his day. We just galloped him around which in hindsight helps them. It gets the freshness off them. It was a long time between drinks with him.

"You can see him. He's just maturing into himself. Hopefully there is another one of them in him. Fast ground is the key; seven(furlongs) to a mile. Just win his races before we move them on."
