Watson well ahead of Red Mills Watson Lake is reported to be in rude health as he bids to win Saturday's Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park for the second time. Noel Meade's 12-year-old has put in a number of good performances this season, showing he is no back number with a Grade Two victory at Clonmel. "Two and a half miles is ideal for him and he actually won this race three years ago," said Meade. "I was a bit annoyed with myself for running him over Christmas as it was probably a race too many, but his form from earlier in the season was very good. "We have given him a break since Christmas and his work at home is still very, very good. "Whenever he works with one of the nicer, younger horses, he still shows them how it's done. "The track and ground will be fine for him and he should run a big race." Just five runners go to post with champion trainer Willie Mullins saddling hot favourite J'y Vole. Glenfinn Captain, Siegemaster and Washington Lad complete the line-up. Mullins is anticipating a bold show from J'y Vole on her first appearance since finishing seventh in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas. "At the five-day stage J'y Vole looked badly in, but the race has cut up quite a bit and she now looks well in," Mullins said in his weekly blog on www.goracing.ie. "With the ground and the trip ideal as well, a lot of things are in her favour, so I'd be hoping for a big show."
