Weapon's Amnesty on Gowran retrieval mission

Weapon's Amnesty needs to impress at Gowran Park on Saturday to avoid a return to hurdling.

Winner of the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, he has had two outings over fences so far this season but finished third at Punchestown before falling at Limerick.

Trainer Charles Bynes has entered the horse in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Novice Chase at the weekend and said: "The ground is not ideal and going right-handed is not ideal but we'll see what happens.

"If he doesn't perform on Saturday, he'll probably go back over hurdles.

"The race hadn't really started last time. He had a heavy enough fall but he seemed fine after.

"He had a good schooling session last week. He always schools well and he jumped well at Punchestown - he has just always tended to jump to the left."
