Wednesday´s Stable Quotes with AT THE RACES

4.10 NEWCASTLE - THE NUMBER

Ian Semple said: 'He works nicely, holding his own with horses rated 80, so there should be races in him. He was lightly-raced at two - we gave him only a couple of runs - and he hasn´t had too many miles put on the clock this season because he needs top of the ground. I thought he might have broken his duck at Musselburgh at the end of August, but he boiled over that day and disappointed us. He did much better when second back there on 11 September and I´m hoping he´ll come good as he continues to strengthen up.'

5.00 SALISBURY - SWINBROOK

James Toller said: 'Some people suggested he struggled to win at Folkestone, but the others tried to keep him on the rails and, once he got out, he actually beat them quite comfortably. Last time at Goodwood he was unfortunate enough to be drawn one (of 19) and it meant he was stuck in a group of three near the stands´ rail. Considering that, and the fact that he had been off the course for nearly three months, I don´t think he did too badly. He´s come out of that race very well and I´d like to think he´ll be winning again before the end of the season. Six furlongs is perfect and, as long as it´s not extreme, the ground doesn´t matter.'

5.00 SALISBURY - BATHWICK BILL

Rod Millman said: 'He got struck into at Kempton and broke a splint bone which is why he hadn't run. He would have needed his comeback when he was eleventh to Who's Winning at Kempton on September 20 but he wasn't beaten very far and I was pleased with him and he'll be spot on next time. I think he'd be a good horse off around 75 but he wants good ground and got jarred up on firm.'
