Weld at double with Falcon Eight Falcon Eight (16/1) rolled back the years to pop up at 16/1 in the concluding Dine At Gowran Park Race over 1m6f to seal a double for Dermot Weld. Leigh Roche made most on the winner who who was under pressure inside the final furlong but fended off the closers to strike by three-parts of a length from War Rooms (15/2) who came with a flourish under treble-seeking Colin Keane. Taipan was backed from 8/1 to 11/2 and his backers drew a place dividend in third. This was 10-year-old gelding Falcon Eight's first victory since winning a Group 3 at the Curragh in November 2023. It was his eighth success in all. Weld said: “He loved being out in front and enjoyed himself. “The ground was very suitable for him; he stays well and was fit from hurdling. “Romzina didn’t stay, and she will go back to a mile and a half.” Weld also saddled the more fancied Romzina (2/1f) who finished fifth. He teamed up with Chris Hayes to land race three on the card through Deressa. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
