Weld thumbs up for Galileo's Choice Dermot Weld believes Galileo's Choice has the right blend of speed and stamina to be a serious candidate for the Emirates Melbourne Cup. The Curragh trainer knows what it takes to capture Australia's premier race as he has won it twice with Vintage Crop in 1993 and Media Puzzle nine years later. In Galileo's Choice he could have another big hope, but first the six-year-old will go for the Gain Horse Feeds Irish St Leger at the Curragh on Saturday week. "He's a good, tough horse. He's in the Irish St Leger, and I think he's the sort of horse that could represent us well," Weld told At The Races. "To win the Melbourne Cup it's the old cliche, you need a stayer with speed. "He's a Group winner over 10 furlongs, he's a Group winner over a mile and a half and he's a stakes winner over a mile and six."
