The Charles Byrnes-trained gelding, supported on track from 2/1 into 11/10 favourite, edged right when ridden to challenge over a furlong out. Luke McAteer’s mount kept on under pressure inside the final furlong to hold off Bucky Larson by half a length with Velvet Skies just a neck further back in third. Byrnes said, "He did (go hard off the front on Tuesday here and kept going), he seemed to kind of get into a good rhythm. "That is what he is, and I'd say he would be keeping a bit for himself.
