Welluknow (18/5) bounced back to form with success in Fairyhouse’s Easter Festival April 4th - 6th Rated Novice Hurdle today, scoring readily for joint-owner/trainer Mark Molloy and jockey Daniel King.

Homebred by Molloy’s Crossogue Stud and joint-owner Eoin Banville’s Arctic Tack Stud, responsible for winning-sire Ol' Man River, Welluknow had disappointed at Leopardstown during Christmas but had previously scored in a Gowran handicap in November.

Today, jockey King held up the seven-year-old in rear and smuggled him into contention on the inner in the home straight, before eventually scoring by a comfortable 3.75 lengths.

Molloy reported “he’s always been a nice horse but I was disappointed in Leopardstown the last day when the race didn’t work out for him on better ground over two miles. Danny (Mullins, jockey then) was very good and looked after him when he wasn’t happening.

“I’ve no real plan for him and we’ll look now to see where we go next. He’s crying out for a fence, he’s a beautiful jumper and has loads of scope.

“It’s great to start the year with a winner.”
