Ohailbhic charged down the outer to land the spoils in the mile handicap at Dundalk, giving Ronan Whelan a double on the card.

The John Feane-trained gelding had been third over seven furlongs here three weeks ago and relished the step up in trip.

Whelan settled the 10/3 shot in mid-division and he travelled well into the straight.

The chestnut was asked to take closer order going to the furlong pole and finished off well to lead in the closing stages, beating Gaiety Girl by a length.

Feane said: "He got the mile. He ran once up the Curragh over a mile over one of the nice weekends, I think, and he actually just took a bit of a false step. I always thought he would get a mile.

"It was a nice performance, and we have options on all-weather and turf. He'll go to the turf as long as it dries out and stops raining.

"He won well there and I was happy with that."

Whelan had also struck in the opener on Buddy Batt
