Minella Indo A Gold Cup hero at Cheltenham in his pomp, Minella Indo is a six-time winner over fences at up to three-and-a-quarter-miles for De Bromhead and owner Barry Maloney. He finished third in the Grand National a year ago behind I Am Maximus, beaten eight-lengths after travelling strongly in the race. He's only rated 1lb lower now, and was second in a Punchestown Grade 3 in October in his only start over fences since. He took in a Grade 2 over hurdles race at Navan en route back here but is only rated 1lb lower than last year and would be the first 12-year-old winner since Amberleigh House in 2004. Senior Chief De Bromhead's second possible National contender is Senior Chief, a lightly-raced eight-year-old with two wins from six attempts over fences. One of those came over 3m1f at Cheltenham back in October, a positive in terms of Grand National trends, and he then ran sixth in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury in late November from a mark of 151. He had a spin over hurdles at Navan in February to tune up for this contest and looks unexposed as a stayer with just 10st 10lb to carry. If his stamina holds up he could be an improver in the National. Shantreusse Shantreusse is one of two possible De Bromhead runners in the Topham Handicap Chase. He ran seventh in the same race a year ago, rated 136 at the time, and is potentially returning to Aintree after some decent efforts in defeat since. He's consistent but still searching for his first win over fences after 12 attempts. Amirite Stablemate Amirite also has a Topham entry and he's 1-12 over fences. His win came on chasing bow in October 2022 at Fairyhouse. He has contested some major staying handicap chases, including the Galway Plate, Kerry National and Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot, already this season and was last spotted running fourth behind leading Grand National contender Hewick in a hurdles race at Thurles over 2m6f in March. He has largely been campaigned over much longer trips but is a rock-solid jumper and that could serve him well. Bob Olinger Bob Olinger was given a peach of a ride from Rachael Blackmore as they won the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham in March. He travelled ever so well into the race, but that has been a trait in recent times and it hasn't typically translated to winning his races. Blackmore was ice-cool in the plate, taking a pull going to the last before picking off the favourite, Teahupoo, in what amounted to a cosy win. He's 10-years-old now and far from exposed at the three-mile trip and it will be interesting to see if De Bromhead and owner Rob Acheson plot to try and win the Liverpool Hurdle next, a contest in which Hiddenvalley Lake was third for the Robcour team last year.
