Enterprising Danny Mullins was an appropriate jockey to complete a treble at a watered racecourse today, securing his second Limerick success in the Easyfix Handicap Hurdle on top-weight Minella Diamond (5/2f).

Mullins, renowned for finding better ‘lines’ on faster going, was the first to establish today’s more advantageous wide route when securing a second-place finish on Ballinagraine Girl in the third race.

Half-an-hour later, Mullins scored on promoted-winner Qaasid , who was involved in a schemozzle at the second-last, and, on Minella Diamond, he again paid no heed to non-existent ‘spur’ markers, when scoring comfortably from Chemdawg .

Mullins later completed a treble on Mickey Hulie in the seventh race, and following Minella Diamond’s race, successful trainer Bill Lanigan reported “he is a nice horse and it is great for Christopher Neville (owner from Roscrea), who has been very patient with him as the horse has had little niggly issues, up and down.

“He is fulfilling his promise now though and we could jump a fence with him in time.”
