Wilkinson Appeals Stewards' decision

Trainer James Lindsay Wilkinson has lodged an appeal against the decision of the Sligo stewards to fine him €2,000 and suspend his horse Rohan's Pride from racing for 42 days.

Wilkinson was adjudged to have been in breach of Rule 212 which relates to using the racecourse as a training ground after Rohan's Pride had finished a 'never nearer' 4th to Gentleman Duke in a maiden Hurdle at Sligo on 8th August.

The stewards also found Wilkinson in breach of Rule 213 for failing to inform them that Rohan's Pride had burst blood vessels after finishing 7th at Clonmel on its previous start. That matter has been referred on to the Turf Club for further investigation.

Wilkinson, who is based in Enfield Co. Meath, has yet to train a winner having held a licence for over four years.
