Wind damages roof of Epsom stand Epsom racecourse has been evacuated after part of the grandstand roof blew off in high winds. There were no injuries sustained in the incident and a full investigation into the cause of the problem is imminent. Jonathan Spence, who handles all Epsom's publicity, tweeted: "After severe winds at Epsom Downs racecourse part of the Duchess Stand roof has lifted and therefore the racecourse has been evacuated "There have been no injuries and a full investigation to the precise cause will follow."
