Wootton's Warrior wins well following terrific final furlong Trojan Warrior (7/1) powered home to impressively win the Curragh’s opening Friarstown Stud Irish EBF Maiden today, as Ballydoyle’s debutante ‘gubbed’ strong-travelling leader Go Just Do It at in-running Betfair odds of 1.01. Go Just Do It appeared to have done as his name suggests having built up a clear lead two furlongs out, and while well ahead a furlong out, Wootton Bassett-sired Trojan Warrior flew home under jockey Wayne Lordan to score by 1.5 lengths. Go Just Do It had finished third in August’s Futurity Stakes and today, winning trainer Aidan O’Brien’s representative Chris Armstrong confirmed “it was an impressive win by Trojan Warrior. “He’s a fine big horse physically, looking at him walking around the ring. The penny has really only dropped with him at home in the last six weeks. Wayne felt in the last half furlong, when he really got him gathered and got him galvanised, he really stretched for the line. He’ll be a lovely horse to come back next year, hopefully to start in a trial and see where he goes. “Obviously Joseph’s horse (O’Brien, Go Just Do It) had the form in the book, and had a good run the last day. On that performance you’d think he could have a nice future.” Quotes from Gary Carson
