Workmanlike Wymott Wymott produced a workmanlike display when winning the Vote A.P. McCoy For BBC Sports Personality Novices' Chase at Exeter. Donald McCain's exciting young chaser had impressed when winning at Bangor in October and took another step towards his ultimate target at the Cheltenham Festival when making it two out of two over fences. He jumped and travelled well on the pace throughout the three mile contest although his supporters were given some cause for anxiety when outsider Shalimar Fromentro closed him down after the last. The six year-old found plenty for pressure as the runner-up closed though and never really looked like being reeled in as he was driven out to score by half a length. Adams Island ran well in third whilst Paul Nicholls' promising Definity shaped well on his first outing for over 600 days until a lack of a run told and is sure to have pleased connections.
