York Ebor Tips: "He's relatively fresh, he's only run three times this season" On the latest episode of the Irish Edge journalist Johnny Ward and former bookmaker Stephen Harris look ahead to Saturday's historic Ebor Handicap on the Knavesmire. Stephen Harris thinks Andrew Balding can continue his hot run for form, while Johnny Ward sticks with an Irish contender for last year’s winning partnership Willie Mullins and William Buick. Watch the Irish Edge Johnny Ward Patrick Mullins referenced Love Me Tender, and he said, "Not the Love Me Tender we used to have, but the Love Me Tender that we have now, with the German pedigree." This horse has suddenly become fascinating. William Buick's been booked, last seen running when a two-length fourth in Chantilly in October. But essentially the form prior to that is: this horse was trained in Germany, a couple of runs in Germany over sort of a mile and one. He's been backed, and obviously William Buick won the race for Willie Mullins last year. Stephen Harris I think the one you've talked about, Love Me Tender, is really interesting. He's actually got it entered in the Cesarewitch in a few weeks' time. I mean, he's the sort of horse, with Buick booked, you wouldn't fall over if he ended up 9-2 favourite, but by the same token you wouldn't be surprised if he was 16-1, and he probably needs it, maybe the Cesarewitch is the target as well. So I think he's a complete market horse, it makes the race very hard to price. There's been money around for Tarriance, from Andrew Balding. Andrew's going well, I thought he ran really well at Goodwood last time, and I suspect he's just been running himself fit. But from that same race, Hopewell Rock was my selection for that Goodwood race - a bit of trumpeting there, but I think he can defy the penalty here. He's a smooth traveller with a turn of foot. He's relatively fresh, he's only run three times this season, you get into that time of the season, Johnny, where I quite like it if they haven't had many runs, rather than having six or seven. This one's still improving. Get your free bets to send on York
