It is still too early to give up hope on Nightwalker developing into a top-class colt after he finished fifth behind Pride Of Arras at York.

Having looked in need of the run at Newmarket on his return to action this year, with the three-year-old having moved from Sir Michael Stoute to John and Thady Gosden over the winter, he stripped much fitter at York.

While lacking the pace of the front few in the Dante, he was doing his best work at the finish and promises to be even better when asked to tackle 12 furlongs or even further.
