  • 14:42 York - Man Of Desert

The opening handicap looks competitive but an each way shout is given to handicap debutant Man Of Desert.

Chris Dwyer’s runner showed very little in his first two starts that came nine months apart, but produced an eyecatching performance in a maiden last time at 200/1, pulling clear of the remainder in third.

That looked a good race with the two colts that beat him both narrowly denied in novice races on their previous starts.

The last four runnings of this contest have gone to those drawn in stall six or lower so he has a handy draw in stall two. This son of Study of Man can count Derby hero Desert Crown among his siblings and ought to relish the step up in trip to 1m2f, he could be well handicapped from an opening mark of 82.

    2.421m. 2f. 56yds. 13 Declared.
Knights Solicitors Handicap (GBBPlus Race) (Class 2 ) of £60,000.00 4-y-o plus

    15:13 York - Consecrated

William Haggas has a smart prospect in the form of Frankel filly Consecrated, who made an impressive winning debut at Newbury over 7f in April.

That win came in a maiden race for newcomers but the form has already received a few boosts, with the third and fourth-placed runners winning their next starts. Strong at the finish and taking some pulling up, she ought to be well suited by this step up to a mile.

From a family her connections know well, she is open to any amount of improvement and can take the step up to listed class in her stride.

Roger Varian’s Gulya may be the main danger, she was only beaten by yesterday’s Group 3 winner Whirl on debut and was unlucky not to get off the mark on her seasonal debut at Ascot when denied a clear run.

    3.137f. 192yds. 9 Declared.
Sky Bet Fillies' Stakes (Listed) (Class 1 ) of £70,000.00 3-y-o

    15:45 York - Continuous

Irish Raider Continuous appeals as one who could have more to offer over this sort of trip.

Since winning the 2023 St Ledger he has only twice raced over 1m6+, most recently in the Meydan Gold Cup when slightly disappointing, however he was held up in a slowly run race so that effort is forgiven.

The son of Heat’s Cry has a positive record at York, finishing third in the 2023 Dante Stakes and winning the Group two Great Voltiger Stakes at three-years-old. A return to this track should suit and he may be sharpened up by the first-time blinkers.

The Globe trotting Rebel’s Romance sets a lofty standard but must give away a 5lb and his stamina isn't proven at the trip, Continuous is favoured at the prices with his yard bang in form.

    3.451m. 5f. 188yds. 5 Declared.
Boodles Yorkshire Cup Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1 ) of £192,200.00 4-y-o plus
