Younger rivals have no answers to Big Debates The joint-oldest runner in the field for the Start Your Racing TV Free Trial Now Ladies Handicap Hurdle at Navan, Big Debates (20/1) fairly bolted up under Anna McGuinness. The 12-year-old, recording his seventh career success, was second on his previous start over hurdles at Limerick in April but hadn't been seen since being pulled up over fences at Punchestown in early May. Having raced behind the leaders, the Maurice Kelleher-owned winner hit the front travelling well before the last and came right away to beat Ladiam by 15 lengths. Trainer Robert Tyner said: "The white hurdles (first time to be used at Navan) seemed to bring out the best in him because he jumped like a buck today. "They went at it a little bit down the back and she was cute enough to leave them at it, and he jumped his way into it. They were travelling down the back - I heard the commentator saying '33', a bit quick for that grade of horse. "He seemed in good form, he had a nice break this year. He was on the go a long time and I only gave him a small little break last summer. It was very small and I gave him a proper break this year and he came back in way better form. "He was entitled to do that (off his hurdle mark), but he's a 12-year-old." Additional reporting by Michael Graham
