Zuheila makes a smart debut at Navan Newcomer Zuheila brought up plenty of bets with a strong finish in the Ardboyne Hotel Maiden over the extended five-furlongs in Navan. Johnny Murtagh's Blue Point filly raced in mid-division and began to make her move with less than two furlongs to race. She came with a sustained run in the final furlong to get up in the closing stages by half a length. Washington Street was the horse collared late on and had to settle for the runner-up berth at 16/5. Sun Soldier rounded out the placings at 10/3, beaten just over three lengths by the winner. Ben Coen said: "A nice, big filly and bred to have a bit of speed. She has been doing things nice at home. "You can see why she hasn't got to the track until now, she's a big girl but she did that nicely. Had a good look when she hit the front, but hopefully she can stay improving. "She was (doing all her best work late) - she was green running down the hill and, when I hit the rising ground, she came good." On stable form he added: "They are running well. "I picked the wrong one yesterday, I went to the wrong place (Dundalk instead of Limerick) - but they are running good, thank God." The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident in the closing stages involving Pete's Dream, ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed fifth, Woolridge (GB), ridden by R. Whearty, unplaced, and Amicitia, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed sixth, where it appeared the three horses came close together. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted. R.P. Whelan, rider of Micheil Cee, trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away and ran green.
