Keri Brion's American trained French Light, runner-up in a valuable Listed race at Punchestown yesterday, is set for disqualification as the gelding carried the incorrect weight in the race, resulting from an administrative error.

French Light chased home the J.P. McManus owned Thedevilscoachman in yesterday's INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Hurdle at Punchestown and while due to collect €5,500 for his efforts, now faces disqualification having carried 7lbs less than his 'correct' weight.

Conditions dictated that 'a winner of two hurdle races shall carry 7lb extra' but French Light's two hurdle wins in America last year were not taken into account, and thus carried 11st 7lbs, against a 'correct' 12st racing weight.

French Light, a point to point in Ireland for Mary Doyle in November 2019, is one of three horses sporting American based Keri Brion has run in Ireland this winter with the trainer having had two placings from three runs prior to yesterday's unfortunate outing.
