Derby winner Kris Kin is retired.

2003 Epsom Derby winner Kris Kin has been retired to stud, where he will command a fee of E8,000 at Hamdan Al Maktoum?s Derrinstown Stud.

Although Kris Kin landed a memorable Derby at Epsom in June, he disappointed in three subsequent races, the last of which he trailed the field in last Sunday?s Prix de l?Arc de Triomphe.

Jockey Kieran Fallon led the tributes to the son of Kris S describing him as 'a lovely horse to ride with a great temperament. We will never know how good he was because he was so laid-back.'

Kris Kin was bred by Flaxman Holdings and was purchased for $275,000 at the 2001 Keeneland September Yearling Sales.

The colt raced for Dubai-businessman Saeed Suhail, whose racing manager Joe Mercer described him as 'a very good horse on his day. He won a Derby and you can never take that away from him.'
