FormscanBy Gary Carson - Last year's Irish 2,000 Guineas winner MAC SWINEY can bounce back to winning ways. The New Approach colt went on to finish fourth in the Derby last season and was also a fine third in the Champion Stakes at Ascot. He was well beaten in the Hong Kong Cup on his final start of a busy year in 2021 and was below par on his return in the Tattersalls Gold Cup here last month. This is a drop in class now though and if he runs anywhere near his mark of 117 he'd be very hard to beat. Bear Story actually finished in front of the selection last time but Mac Swiney is fancied to reverse that form now with a run under his belt. Paddy Twomey is enjoying a terrific season and his Rumbles Of Thunder could be the danger. The French import stepped forward nicely from her first run at Cork to land a Gowran Listed contest in fine style early last month. She has a bit more on her plate now but looks progressive.
