The Sam Curling-trained gelding had been well touted for the Festival on the preview circuit, but was forced to miss out due to unsuitable ground. At his best with plenty of give, connections of the eight-year-old will be praying that the heavens open in the hours leading up to this race. A smart horse under Rules in his prime, Hunters Yarn has done little wrong in this sphere. Runner-up on his last two starts, he has to be respected. Big Interest has a bit to prove at this stage, but shouldn't be discounted.

Rules or Rules of Racing after 1st March, 2025 other than a Certified Hunters Steeplechase or a Farmers RaceWeights - 5-y-o 11st 12lbs 6-y-o and up 12st. Mares allowed 7lbs.Riders - Qualified Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules. ? A Hunters Certificate valid in accordance with Rule 78 for the 2025/2026 season for each horse engaged must be registered at the Offices of the INHSC, The Curragh, Co. Kildare not later than 30th March, 2026 or the horse will not be qualified to start. In the case of horses from Great Britain, Hunters Certificates must have been duly registered at the Racing Calendar Office. The IHRB have modified the relevant Rules to permit horses for which Hunters Certificates have been registered and which are eligible to run in Hunters Steeplechases in Great Britain to run in this race. However, horses with a Hunters Certificate that have run in any race other than a Hunters Steeplechase since 1st December, 2025 are excluded. A person who is registered as a current Keeper with the British Horseracing Authority may enter and run a horse in this race. The Cup to be run for each year and to be held by the winner for one year but must be returned to the Secretary on or before 1st March, 2027.
