That's Jessica's first win for me, she joined me this year and it is great to have her on the team. She is great in the mornings, loves her horses and this lad (Final Voyage) is a pet in the yard, so the apprentices get a go on him. I always tell the lads riding him to 'drop him in, don't come too soon' and, before today, he had also never won on the grass!. He is a lead horse at home and if we have one to get by him, they usually run well. He also pays his way and I'm delighted to get Jessica a winner. She does three-days-a-week with us.

He’s a horse with a lot of ability but he’s a little bit tricky. He’s starting to settled into the place now. He’s a bit keen and he was running with his head up in the air a bit. I think he’s really grown up mentally more than anything else. We fancied him a few times but riding him the way we rode him it was always going to be tough to win. I thought coming today he was in good shape, he was after growing up. He’s in the mile-and-a-half handicap (at Leopardstown) on Sunday and we’ll see how he is. We’ll decide it over the next few days.

It’s not very often you get to win two €100,000 handicaps one after another,. He’s a lovely horse, very professional. We thought this was his trip and we fancied him, we thought he’d run a big race. We thought in the Curragh that he idled a little bit in front. A couple of people were saying that some horses were finishing well but I just think he idled a little bit. We made sure that we had him coming home today. He gave him a great ride and it was a good bit of placing by Ed (brother). We’ll see what the handicapper does. I’d love to bring him to Galway. It would be a tough feat but I think he would suit the place. He’s got gate speed and stays. He’ll handle a bit of ease in the ground as well if there is a slight ease there. A big thank-you to Mick Halford too, we were very lucky to get him. His mum passed away yesterday.

He did it well. He's a horse that's improved with every run. He needed the extra furlong, the way he was coming home at Dundalk. He's a big horse and he just took the time to develop. He did it quite nicely and, when Billy got to the front, he wasn't doing an awful lot so hopefully that means he has more in the tank. He's still a big baby and the cheekpieces just helped him focus.

He is from a very good Airlie Stud family and is by Tamayuz who I like, and has sired (stablemate) Jancis. He was bought cheaply (€22,000) because he was a rig but I thought he was good value and told the boys we’d have to be patient. I went back for a maiden because he ran a good race in Killarney the last day and I thought he’d have the experience for a maiden at this time of year. He showed a good attitude and fought to the line.

He is (more than capable on his day) and here suits him. I don't know why - I don't think his form is better here necessarily but, the way the races work out on the flat track, he has a little gear and he can use it. The handicapper has been very fair to him throughout the summer. He has kept on dropping him and he had a chance off that mark. He just had to do things right. He can get himself a little bit out of his ground early. Billy is riding out of his skin and it is great.

I suppose he's back down to a rating of 80 which is a help to him, and the jockey’s 7lb claim helped as well. Patrick is an excellent claimer and has been very good all year for us. He has ridden winners and a lot of placed horses for us and I thought he gave that horse an exceptional ride, having received a lovely briefing from Ben Coen beforehand. We have a nice team in place with riders, which is a big help to us. The horse found plenty and that (1m2f) is absolutely his trip, he hits the line strong over that trip and loves the surface here. He's turning 10 in the new year, so every day is a bonus now. He's a lovely horse for the yard and hopefully he will come back here again or run over hurdles at Christmas.
