Formscan By Michael Graham - LA NOTE VERTE is interesting on her first crack at steeplechasing. She won two of her four races over hurdles, in addition to a bumper, and has gone well fresh before. She represents strong connections on her return to action having been off since last September. Miss Doyenne enjoyed herself over flights on better ground at Down Royal and could have more to offer now switched to the larger obstacles. After that victory, jockey Darragh O'Keeffe commented that she is a real chaser in the making and it is worth noting that she landed a point-to-point in January last year. Affinity Rock, Billie Frechette, Gaoth Chuil and Emily Love are among a host of horses eyeing a slice of the pie.

She is 17.1hh, is a brilliant jumper and is very natural to jump. She will be a chaser, but we won't overrace her and will mind her and pick her races. Jack Lord rides her out every day and has done a great job settling her. My uncle (Noel Collins) bred her and won a point-to-point with her, and thankfully got a syndicate to buy her. She will be a nice mare for them. We might try for black-type somewhere during the summer and she will jump fences sooner rather than later.

She was 16/1 this morning, so it was some shock when the others (ahead of her in the betting) all came out. She probably wouldn't have won otherwise, but I think she'd have been in the money as she ran well here last week. She is a nice mare and will come back here for a Listed novice before Christmas. She is a good ground filly, is getting better with every run, and that will boost her confidence. Her year will be over once the ground gets too soft.

She travelled really well. I always thought she was capable of being better than she was, so I suppose that is a little bit more like it. She has been consistent, she had one bad run in Navan, but other than that she is running consistently. She stays further and she jumps, she has won twice on the level. Hopefully, she will win again. Billy was always travelling well and it was easy for her then because he was always travelling so well. She got into a great rhythm and he said she travelled into it really easily.

It's great to win, Leopardstown is a special place and I've had a lot of luck here over the years with some very good horses,. She's a good tough little mare, she's owned and bred by Michael Ryan. He had the dam and Harzand is a good stallion. She ran up against Barry's horse (Espanito Bello) at Naas. She's only five and whether she runs at Cheltenham (20/1 for the Pertemps Final with Powers) is a question mark, we have the option now if we want to go.

She hated the ground first-time out and is a real summer mare. She is not very big, is light-boned and will run away during the summer. I think as racing went on today, they were going wider and wider and with no chases and six hurdle races, it was getting more chewed up than normal. There was no pace, she was fit and had a run so I decided to go on and it worked out. I think there is a bit more there with her and I imagine she will go jumping now, although she might strengthen up with a break so we'll see what Willie thinks.

today was the plan as she is a proper summer mare. Her owners Barbara and Edmond Coleman bred Lord Windermere (Gold Cup winner) and It Came To Pass (Foxhunters), so are big breeders and the more black-type she gets, the better. She struggled on the ground but toughed it out well. She is a real good-ground mare and we decided to race ‘down the paint’ early but Darragh said she was struggling and decided to come wide turning in. He said the minute she hit the good ground and from the second-last, he knew she’d catch the leader (Royal Hollow). She could go chasing and can also go back to the Flat.
