We were disappointed in him the last day, but I'd say just two miles was too short and a lot of ours just needed the run at that stage. I was probably trying to be clever splitting them all up in Down Royal. I was nervous of running him back so quick but, in fairness, it was the right decision. He was tough. In fairness to him, he was a different horse there today. You could see the way he was travelling with his head down, he was happy. In Down Royal, his head was in the air and he never jumped. He had good bumper form last year and probably tapered off a bit at the end of the year, but that was back to more like it today. I'd say that's it (his trip) and he could go further as well. Maybe straight to Naas because he's after having two quick runs. Like most of those Gigginstown horses, he was bought to be a big chaser. I'd say whatever he does over hurdles, it is going to be chasing down the road.

I love the horse, but when he got to the front he was a bit lairy. I knew we’d have to dig deep to be involved never mind win. I think he can win staying hurdles and he’ll be exciting to go chasing next year. I have to thank John Mahon and my parents who were offered plenty of money for him. It wasn’t enough for them, and they wanted to enjoy racing him. It’s important for me to have a horse like him in the yard and thanks to them for letting me ride him. I haven’t been riding all year and I’m still not one hundred per cent fit. I rode a couple during the week just to get my eye rightly in. He’s exciting and it’s good to have him.

To be fair he’s not a bad horse. He had a couple of good runs in bumpers,. He was just being hard on himself in bumpers, so we said we’d go jumping. He’ll probably make a chaser next year. It’s not like us to go jumping a hurdle at this time of year, but he’s six so we said we’d let him rock on. I think he’s a nice horse, he had a really good run in Fairyhouse. He jumped great. He might go to Fairyhouse for something, and he could be a horse for Aintree.

After running over two-miles here last year he is probably used to going a bit faster. I think he really appreciated the step-up in trip and the benefit of the run coming here this year helped him as well. Coming off of the Flat, this is a different type of racing and they just go a good bit quicker early. He wasn't pulling and dragging my arms out, but I was still happy to let him go to the front once we had a couple of hurdles jumped. He came to us last year. He ran a cracker here in Galway and ran a really good race in the Ebor, which I think we’ll probably head back for now after that,. Looking at him jumping there he was electric for a horse having his second run over hurdles, coming from Poland. The only jumping he did was in our place. He was so confident in himself, just skimming the tops of the hurdles. I’d say Paul’s heart was in his mouth. You like a handicapper doing that but not a horse first time out over hurdles. He really enjoyed himself, he was loving it.

He did well in a schooling race in Tipperary a couple of weeks ago and we always thought he was a nice horse. Jack Bennett had done all the early work and point-to-pointed him, and then we got him. The point-to-point in which he finished fourth has worked out very well and there are a lot of winners from the race. He is a fine horse and is definitely one for the future. I'd say we'll stay in bumpers for now.

I think he is a very good horse and is ahead of my horse King Of Aces who won here last month. He is for sale to stay in the yard, and he is a chaser really. The runner-up had a run, which was my worry, but I thought he could definitely give him a rattle. I had him entered for auction races as he sold for €5,000 at a sale but he sold post-sale, so unfortunately wasn't qualified, and he wasn't that cheap when I bought him!. His previous trainer Eugene O'Sullivan recommended him highly and his nephew Alan O'Sullivan was also very sweet on him, and that is what he has been showing us at home. I'd be hoping he is a graded horse, and he'll go over fences next year.

He won well. He’s just a green horse, and it’s his first time over hurdles. He hasn’t run for nine months. He was working with the slow horse that won the National Trial! I don’t know what that tells you. He’s an exciting horse. He’ll have two more runs over hurdles this year and then we’ll go jumping a fence. He’s very good to jump. He’s by a very good sire, Buck’s Boum. I think what we’re looking at is the Grade 2 in Fairyhouse in seven weeks’ time. If everything went well there, he could come back to Punchestown for the 2m4f Grade 1. That’ll be him then under wraps until he goes jumping a fence next year. Willie’s horse was second in Cork, and the winner came out and won a Grade 3 in Gowran yesterday. If it was a month ago you might be thinking about going to Cheltenham but for a horse that is going chasing, I don’t think we need to be going there. There are some lovely targets at home.

No matter how ready they are (following a layoff), it takes a fair beast to come to Navan on winter ground like that and run out a nice winner. We are delighted with the performance and we knew he was a nice horse at home. To put it all together, that's decent. I have a fine four-year-old that is good and tough through the race, so that was a nice run around for me. When you are on the best horse in the race, you always think the ground is better, although if you are down the field, you are thinking the ground is slower.

He got the job done and ran away nicely at the finish. He’s a good horse and jumped well through the race. He was always giving me the feel that I could pick up and go. I’d say he could be a strong stayer in the spring.
