The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Zuzukel (FR), trained by A.J.Martin, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Walk On The Beach, ridden by Mr J.L. Gleeson, placed first, and Glenashling, ridden by C. Stone-Walsh, placed second, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C. Stone-Walsh stated that his mount felt intimidated by Walk On The Beach who came close and caused his mount to hang left. Mr J.L
Gleeson stated that his mount was a green individual but that he had made every attempt to maintain his line, he further stated that no contact was made between the two horses. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Walk On The Beach had caused interference to Glenashling and as a result of this interference had improved its finishing position. As a consequence, the Raceday Stewards reversed the placings and amended the result to read as follows: First: Glenashling Second: Walk On The Beach Third: Hello Jack Fourth: Speedy Box Fifth: Colvin Sixth: Savant Du Mesnil
Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Mr J.L. Gleeson was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard they suspended him for two Racedays
Mr J.L. Gleeson, rider of Walk On The Beach, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran green after the last hurdle and shied left at the back of the last
Mr S. Connor, rider of Colvin, trained by S.R.B. Crawford, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran green early
C. Stone-Walsh, rider of Glenashling, trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got carried across the track
A.J.Martin, trainer of Zuzukel (FR), reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge was scoped following the race and showed mucus and a grade two bleed
The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Zuzukel (FR), ridden by Mr J. Costello, and trained by A.J.Martin. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Mr J. Costello, stated that his instructions were to jump off three or four lengths behind the field to give his mount the best chance to settle and run to the best of his ability. He further stated that he rode the horse at home and he was very keen. A.J. Martin, stated that his charge was very keen and that unfortunately today he had ran on his nerves and freely. He stated that the horse was scoped following the race and showed mucus and a grade two bleed He further added that the rider could have made more of an effort between the third and second last. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Zuzukel (FR) was post race normal, samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation of trainer A.J.Martin. The Raceday Stewards found Mr J. Costello in breach of Rule 212.A.(iii) and suspended him for ten Racedays
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approaching the second last hurdle involving Walk On The Beach, ridden by Mr J.L. Gleeson, placed second, Glenashling, ridden by C. Stone-Walsh, placed first, and Hello Jack, ridden by D.J Gilligan, placed third, where it appeared it got tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr J.L. Gleeson stated that his mount ran green throughout and he had recieved a bump. C
Stone-Walsh stated that his mount ran green and leaned in. D.J Gilligan stated that things became tight and that he had kept his mount straight. Having viewed the recording of the race an
