FormscanBy Mark Nunan - WOLF PRINCE has twice finished some way behind Aspire Tower, including at Leopardstown in Grade Two company last time out, but that horse is towards the head of the market for the JCB Triumph Hurdle in March and in between Gavin Cromwell’s charge ran away with a course-and-distance maiden hurdle on heavy ground. He had previously shown promise on the Flat for Amy Murphy, and seems to stay well and handle testing ground. He would have finished a long way ahead of Aramax at Leopardstown, when Gordon Elliott’s runner tipped up at the final hurdle when well behind. It’s worth noting that Aramax, previously a winner in France for Guillaume Macaire, was sent off only 13/2 for that first start in this country, but Elliott probably has a better chance with Gealach. He had some respectable Flat form for John Oxx, and had been gradually progressive over hurdles before winning well at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve. He was well behind the selection at the same venue in November, but at least has more experience to call on this time. Useful middle-distance Flat handicapper Takarengo didn’t progress on his second start over hurdles at Cork last weekend, having run well at Leopardstown (Friday’s winner Tronador a place behind him), but if jumping more fluently can be competitive here.%0A%0A%0A
