FormscanBy Mark Nunan - CHOSEN MATE made a fair start to his chasing career when third to Melon at Leopardstown, and might come forward sufficiently to score here. The former point-to-point winner was smart enough over hurdles last term, winning a Grade Two novice at Naas and finishing a good fifth behind Reserve Tank in a Grade One at Aintree. He is preferred to Voix Des Tiep, who looked in trouble when falling three out at Navan, having run well on chasing bow behind Tornado Flyer at Naas. Paul Townend’s mount would probably prefer further, while stablemate Annamix won a maiden hurdle at Clonmel last season and was once a horse with a very tall home reputation. It’ll be interesting to see whether fences will be the making of him. Valdieu tipped up early on behind the selection at Leopardstown, but his first two completions over fences were reasonably creditable, and his trainer has always thought highly of him. If putting in a better round of jumping, he might get involved in the finish.%0A%0A%0A
