I didn't want to step him straight into a Stakes race because he is still very raw and he is one that we will give plenty time between runs. Colin said he was doing nothing in front so he only hit him a couple to let him know it was more than being at home. He is a horse we like and put Sheikh Fahad into him and it was either do this or head straight to the Tyros (Stakes) which I don't like doing and we've a couple of others for the Tyros so we'll go baby, baby with him instead and let him mature. It's nice and Colin said the track rode fantastic and once he matures he'll be a nice horse and is improving every week.

Allegio just holds on under Heffernan

He's a lovely horse and is obviously by the right sire! . I was just worrying was he going to be a victim of finishing third and fourth and he deserved that. He should have won his maiden here but was boxed in on the rail and Seamie (Heffernan) came in and put his hands up and has put it right today and kicked at the right time and just held on. It's great for Ray Treacy who flew into Farranfore at lunchtime and is based in Bedfordshire but is originally from near me at Cloughjordan. He has three or four horses with me and is a great supporter of mine. My horses are in good form and it will be a long week here hopefully. We were thinking of running him in the mile handicap at Galway next. Colm Sharkey, who buys some horses for us, picked him up at the Doncaster Horses In Training Sale. He phoned me and said he had an unraced Galileo from David O'Meara's who David thought was a bit weak and you could do worse than put him away and could be a bumper horse. But when we started to gallop him, he had too much speed for a bumper, so we won't complain - he was a steal for E5,000.

Cairn Rouge goes to Drumfad Bay

She had two good runs against the boys at Naas before going to Ascot but she got a bad bump at halfway and it shuffled her back a bit. She did that very well and mum and the owners will have a chat to see what to do next but we may find something for her during Champions Weekend and will step her up (in class) again.

Lucca follows-up on Tipperary win

Ronan said the ground was probably as quick as he wanted today and we took the chance in coming back in trip today rather than stepping up to 1m 5f at Navan on Friday; we knew the ground would be a bit quicker there so decided to come here. We just about got away with the ground but he is an honest horse and Ronan gave him a superb ride and was at him a long, long way out but stayed at it in the end. We might step him up to 1m 4f or even two miles at Galway and we'll see how he comes out of this before deciding if he'll run between now and then. He is owned and bred by Caroline Mills and Seamus Bergin and I'd be looking forward to going hurdling with him. We'll leave him doing what he is doing for the time being, but hurdling will be down the line.

Line gets off the mark under Lynch for Kiely

Andrew (Lynch) is a real horseman but it took a little while to click to the jumping - he was just a slow learner. He is more of a chaser but we'll keep him hurdling this year. It's nice to get a horse like him and he'll be fine if he's half as good as his sister.

Kelly & Russell team up again with Champ

He'll be entered at Galway but I'll see as he is only a five year old. His owner Tom Kelly will want to run at Galway. He wasn't able to make it today, he's a very good owner.
