Relieved Of Duties makes winning chase debut
Lyndon makes winning start over fences
It’s the first time he’s jumped on grass so hopefully he’ll improve plenty from it. He said he had a good blow so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards. We might step him up in trip as well. The plan was to get going steady, get him a lead and get him jumping. That was the main objective today. He seemed to put in a good round of jumping and that’s a big help. We’ll look for a winners’ contest or a novice. He will improve and hopefully he can improve enough to get in with the big boys. We’ll see what happens.
Dream still alive for Paul's
Clonbury Bridge continues Dempsey's good run
That was great, he jumped from fence to fence. We were delighted with him.
Carey's mare off the mark over hurdles
Shane was very good on her, it wasn’t easy the way the race was ran, so it was great for him. It was great for the lads, that’s the second horse they’ve had — they were unlucky as the first mare was killed in Tramore. She wouldn’t show much at home and we weren’t expecting her to run so well at Ballinrobe. She’s improving, so it’s great. She’s not big but she’s tough. We’ll see what mark she gets and go from there, make a little plan. I wouldn’t say she would be a middle of winter filly. She’s kind of surprised us up to now so we’ll let her keep going for a little bit anyway.
50/1 winner for Darragh O'Keeffe at Fairyhouse
It was his first go in a handicap, he has been a touch disappointing in maiden hurdles,. He hasn’t been seeing out his races and he’s not quick so we stepped him up last time and he really didn’t get home. The drop back in trip today was a help and he’s had his wind done along the way as well. The lads had a few quid on him so they are happy. Darragh was absolutely brilliant on him. He’s not a simple horse to ride, he’s keen and he’s not a strong finisher and he hangs a bit as well. He made every decision right on him the whole way around. He was travelling well turning in and he could have switched wide and got a clear run but he took the chance to switch in and have another horse keep him straight up the straight. That’s why he’s top of the table. He has the scope to jump a fence, he won a point-to-point. From not doing that well in maidens he’s ended up well handicapped, so I’d be hoping he wouldn’t get a huge amount for today and there might be another one in him. I’d say he needs a bit of nice ground so that might be it for him but at least he’s going out on a good note.
Costello slips the field in Fairyhouse bumper
He had good enough form and deserved to be bang there,. He took a bit of a hold there going away from the stands and Laura let him bowl on as once he’s galloping within himself, he’ll stay galloping. She gave him a very good ride, she let him roll on and she knew what she was doing. That’s two out of two now, she’s had two rides for me and two winners. It’s fantastic. He ran a couple of decent races with my own son Danny on him as well. He’ll go over hurdles now. I think two-and-a-half miles will be more his thing than two miles. It was great to get that. He had a bit of race fitness coming into today and that stood to him. I work him around Liam Burke’s gallop and I think that’s one of the best gallops in the country. You’d get a very good blow into a horse there.
