Formscan By Tom Weekes - AFFINITY ROCK is rated just 105 over hurdles but this summer has shown better form over fences, and has winning course form. Successful here in May 2025, the selection again ran well at today’s course last May when finishing ahead of subsequent-winner La Note Verte, and backed up that effort with another useful runner-up placing at Limerick. She stays well and likes good ground. French import Fort Dino scored smartly at Auteuil in May 2025 but was absent for 334 days prior to his return at the Punchestown festival. He should improve from that effort but notably wore a tongue-tie then, and now tries a longer distance on chase debut. Previous Galway festival-winner Ballystone wasn’t beaten too far at that same course last month.

He’s a lovely horse, we like him a lot. We thought we were unlucky here the last day that we were beaten by one of Charles’ (Byrnes, On Your Way). He got a cut the last day and that’s why he was missing over Christmas. We’ll try and find something else now. JJ (Slevin) rode him one day and said he’s crying out for fences in the summer, on good ground. The only doubt I had today was the ground.

He didn't get home in Galway but went to the start very fresh and we thought he was a much better horse than that. He won nicely in Killarney though and today beat Willie's other horse who is no slouch. I was happy that I was able to get a few lengths away from the others and his jumping was making ground, rather than me using petrol to do it. That is always a help when it comes to the business end and it was a good performance.

She is 17.1hh, is a brilliant jumper and is very natural to jump. She will be a chaser, but we won't overrace her and will mind her and pick her races. Jack Lord rides her out every day and has done a great job settling her. My uncle (Noel Collins) bred her and won a point-to-point with her, and thankfully got a syndicate to buy her. She will be a nice mare for them. We might try for black-type somewhere during the summer and she will jump fences sooner rather than later.
