Formscan By Tom Weekes - HI HO IDAHO won at today’s venue in May and it is hoped he will cope with dropping in distance on handicap debut. Placed in two point-to-points last autumn, he has shown nice ability over hurdles and defeated subsequent-winner Livio into third-place here in May, with today’s rival Eye Contact chasing home Livio at Cork recently. The selection is absence since his May success, but has local owners so will be primed. Stablemate Fiveonefive scored at the Galway festival but is 8lb higher and has top weight while hat-trick seeking Gino Bella is 8lb higher than when scoring at Cork.

Cartmel had been the plan to hopefully win a race for the fourth year in-a-row but it didn't go to plan. I told the lads that he'd win in Galway instead and thankfully it worked out. It was a masterclass from Jack and only for him, I don't think he'd have won. I know Jack since our pony racing days and we've had good fun through the years. He was the first horse I ever bought. He was initially one of three horses in my yard and is the yard favourite. He isn't an easy horse and Ray Loftus has always ridden him out, but he was cheap and I got two great owners, Salvatore Giannini from Wales and Tony Lagan from the north, involved. The horse has seen it all happen in my yard and this is my first Galway Festival winner, so to get one over the line is brilliant.

He is a lovely horse who is improving with every run and after Clonmel, we said we'd aim for here as his owners from Kerry and Cork. Brian Quill, from Listowel, heads the partnership and they are great new owners who have bought a couple of horses. Benny Walsh recommended him after his point-to-points, said he'd win plenty of races, so I went off his word and thankfully it has worked out. I think he'll keep improving, we'll aim for Listowel and he'll make a nice chaser next year.

She had been consistent in the 0-100 grade although it took her a while to win one. While you would think you're well-handicapped, then you bump into one like Timurshah who wins four-in-a-row, so there always seemed to be one better. At least today she had a nicer weight. Alan almost has a 'free' 5lb claim and she jumped, travelled and did everything right. She is well-bred so getting black type into her would be ideal. She isn't a winter mare, so I'm not sure if the Byrnes will come back with her next season. If she does return next year, she will jump fences so she would have the option of getting black type in chases.

Tom (O'Connor) is a lovely young fella, he comes in to me one day a week and he is going the right way. Sean and Brenda (Maguire, owners) are from Armagh and are huge supporters of my yard. Over the years they have hugely bought into this festival meeting and this is a huge buzz for them, as they have loads of friends here. We are blessed with our staff at home and they are all very good. That was brilliant and I'm delighted for Seamus and the family, who have put a lot of belief in me. They have stuck with me so long and I believe this horse is much better than what he has shown so far. I'm from Germany, have been in Ireland nearly 13 years and have a show-jumping background. I decided to change at the end of 2012 and came across Mark Molloy (trainer) who asked me had I ever ridden a thoroughbred and I said no, so stayed with him and fell in love with the point-to-pointers. I learned a lot from Mark and then moved to Henry De Bromhead where I also learned a lot, so then jumped and did it on my own. I'm mainly focused on point-to-pointers, only have a couple of runners for the track and am based in Nenagh, in Tom Hogan's yard. I have loads of young stock coming along and have plenty good owners so without them I couldn't do it. Seamus and his family are from Ballina/Killaloe and I have a couple of young horses for them too so this is brilliant.
