Dundalk Fri, 31st Mar, 2023  Emeric I wasn't surprised by that but he is just a work in progress. When I went to buy him a year ago, I said this is a real smart horse. He just wasn't right and never ran the way I said he'd run. He's just a different horse now. Worse case scenario, I should be well enough handicapped to come back here next winter. Ideally, we will go hurdling.

Down Royal Fri, 17th Mar, 2023  Western Comandor He looked like a real bumper horse and, in fairness, I have to thank Fethard Equine Hospital as they did a little palate job on him. They did a great job on him. He was always a classy horse. Hunt Ball is a brother to his dam (Western Rose), so he is a well-bred horse. He could be a nice little novice hurdler now, he's a novice until next November anyway at least. We'll have a bit of fun with this lad. He would (prefer going the other way around) - the Kerry tracks are left-handed!

What probably made the decision was when Paul jumped the second-last he came over in front of him. You could say why didn't he (Cooper) go round him but he never actually had a chance to go around him because once Paul blocked him up, he had nowhere to go except to keep going straight. Rachael (Blackmore, on Amirite) came out and Paul went in (at the last) but I think he was the best horse. I'll have to talk to JP and Frank (Berry, McManus' racing manager) before I can say where he's going to go next because I don't know. Frank is away on holidays with the boss. I do think wherever he goes, he does need soft ground, that's essential.
